The African Kalimba is one of the most beautiful instruments. It is played all-over Africa and is known by many different names like Mbira, Likembe, Sansa, Thumb Piano, etc. The most famous players seem to come from Zimbabwe (Southern Africa). They are tuned to an African scale and have a mellow unusual sound, not unlike a harp. They can be retuned by pushing the keys (or tines) in or out to change the pitch, and sometimes have loose metal parts like bottle caps that rattle or buzz from the vibrations of the keys.
