The double Gankougui Bell (center) is the heartbeat of traditional music from Ghana, W. Africa. The most well-known rhythmic fragment has become the cornerstone of Latin music and, in its abbreviated form becomes the Cuban “clave” rhythm. The other bells are cowbells of various sizes, Brasillian gogo bells, and a beautiful triple bell, designed and built by the famous bell-maker Pete Englehart.
